I navigate the world as a Black, Afro-Caribbean, immigrant, multicultural woman. To ignore how the systems of power under which we operate - capitalism, racism, consumerism, heteronormativity, neo-colonialism - affect the lives of the marginalized would be a great disservice to my clients. In therapy, we will name these systems, explore the impact they have had on your life, and nurture your self-compassionate resistance.
Identity at the Forefront
Whatever stage of life you are in, you are constantly learning about yourself and what is most “you.” It is imperative to reflect and be aware as you uncover these parts of yourself.
Narrative Exploration
Life is about stories. Narrative exploration allows us to get curious about how your story is unfolding, how you got to where you are, where you’d like to go next, and to challenge what no longer serves you while taking hold of new potentials.
A Practical Guide to Supporting Yourself
Therapy is a moving target, but growth and understanding happen throughout it all. When you show up willing to put in the work, I will join you in your energy. My integrated approach to therapy utilizes skills for self-regulation, mindfulness, grounding, behavioral activation, self-challenging, and paying attention to what your body, mind, and spirit need to be well.
